Tried and True Web Development Principles

I've been a web designer, developer, and project manager for about eight years now. In that time I've seen many trends come and go; whether it be plain html sites, sites in Mambo or Joomla, or blogs and static sites in WordPress, I've built and managed sites on many different platforms - mostly open source.

With all of this experience I have noticed that while the fads do indeed come and go some things have been around from the beginning and will likely BE around as long as I am working on web sites. Three of these things includeSEO (search engine optimization), converting site visitors into your desired result, and they never ending focus on web standards. Indeed, there are lots of other things that you can work on and focus on when building a web site, by these are three things that I have noticed pop up a on almost every single the project.

While the game of search engine optimization (SEO) seemingly changes on a daily basis, this does not mean that it has ever not been a focus of ours. Even within SEO there are some things that we have always worked on. Title tags have always been important and likely will be important for the foreseeable future. Also, the text used in your URL has always been important and likely will always be important. While Meta keywords are a thing of the past, Meta description still play an important part as they often show up under your link in the search engine listings. New focuses of ours include the long-tail, social media and networking, and link bait.

Another item that we always seem to focus on his conversions. Whether you run an online store, a blogs, or in information site, you always have a singular goal for a random site visitor. Do you want them to become a customer? Do you want them to become a repeat visitor? Do you want them to click on ads? Do you want them to stick around and read more of your website content? These are serious questions that you need to ask yourself and your client as you go about designing the web site. The total user interface should be designed around what you want the visitor to end up doing on the web site.

Web standards have always been very import important on the web. The importance of web standards can be seen simply by looking at how many different browsers there are right now. From Firefox to Internet Explorer to Safari, the your site can be looked at using many different web browsers. As such, to ensure that your site looks the same across all of these different browsers, it is important that you use standard compliant code. Not only to standard compliant code improve your site's consistency across multiple browsers, but search engines also love standards compliance and will reward you with better rankings.

So, as you can see, some fads come and go but there are some things in web design and development that have been true since the beginning. Search engine optimization, conversions, and standards compliance will always be important to you when working on a web site.

There is no question that communications has caused our planet to shrink in a way. A news event anywhere in the world today can be communicated, almost instantly, to everyone else in the world. Kids Clothing And Your Headache

Many of us hope to have children some day, some of us already do. When we have children there are many responsibilities facing us. You have to feed, clothe, bath, and provide for the little buggers. When you go looking for kids clothing you're going to have multiple choices to go through.

Besides your above mentioned responsibilities of feeding, bathing, and clothing them you will have a few more but those aren't covered here. In many cases then ice fancy food you bought for your kids to eat is going to end up smeared all over their nice clothes. Detergent will be needed to keep these clothes in good shape. Keep in mind if it's muddy, or can be climbed kids will be natural attracted to it.

Kids will play as hard as they can as often as they can, it's what they do. They will dig in any dirt pit, roll around in any pile of leaves they can find, and anything else they can get into. As you can surmise on your on this make clothes really filthy. Many clothing brands constantly try to build clothing that can stand up to children.

Besides playing around you have to make sure they have nice clothes to wear to events like church, or a nice restaurant. These can be the hardest to buy because not only do you have to find great value, you also have to get them to wear it. Parents often tell their children they cannot mess up their nice clothes. Henceforth children have no desire to wear their nice clothes as this prohibits them from having any fun.

Kids really just hate to wear nice fancy clothes. Many adults seem to forget they were children and don't remember why they hated wearing clothes like this. Many parents will yell and scream at their children when they mess up their nice clothes. Regardless of how fancy the clothing is you shouldn't yell at them for spilling something on it. They don't have an understanding the cost of fancy stuff. Yelling at them for it isn't really effective anyway.

What's important to remember is that regardless of what you buy for them in about another month you're going to have to buy another size. You might want to buy clothing that's a size or two bigger than what they wear now so they will grow into it. It is kind of hard to stay one step ahead of them but it can help in the long run.

There are many types of clothing you can by for your children. You can buy standard clothes or you can buy clothes that have pictures of the latest movie characters on them. Children tend to like wearing clothing of this type. It also allows the movie companies to make more money.

To wrap things up finding kids clothing that they are willing to wear is a bit tough. You have to do a tightrope balancing act, you have to by what they think is cool but what you think is best. It's not going to be easy but raising kids isn't. Clothing however will be the least of your concerns as time goes by and they get older.

Today I'll be telling you how and why Internet based marketing can give you more bang for your buck than the traditional offline advertising and marketing model. For example:

You go to your local newspaper and you tell them you want to place an ad. While there, you ask them how many readers they have or what are the circulation numbers - and they give you a round about number. You also ask, what the demographics are, and they give you a general answer, as they do not exactly know.

So you place the ad in the classified section and wait to see what happens. By the way, on your ad you put a code on your website URL so you know how many visitors you are getting from that ad, and second, with the phone number you also add a code, so you know where the calls are coming from.

In this example, we do very well and make one sale. Now, you may get other trickle in calls over the coming weeks, as often, people keep the newspaper and respond to an ad later.

Let's compare this with internet based advertising. First off, try a pay per click ad campaign. This allows you to narrowly target your campaign by using the keywords of your choice which you think are relevant to your product or service and that will attract visitors to your site. You can also try out more general keywords and see what results you get.

With this example, your ad goes live within just 15 minutes, using, let's say, Google. You don't pay unless people click on your link; if they do, you pay a dollar. Let's say that your conversion rate is 2%. This means that you spend $100 to make two sales.

However in this example because of conversion tracking you can tell which keywords are converting to sales and cut out the keywords that do not convert making your ad campaign more cost efficient and effective.

If you've also used more general keywords, you can track how much traffic that this approach has netted you. On the other side of the coin, you'll be able to place ads on websites whose readerships demographics match the market you're targeting.

The main advantage to this internet based marketing model is the ability to closely track how your ads are performing. This allows you to maximize the revenue stream brought n by your campaign in a way traditional advertising never could.

Of course, pay per click is only one form of online advertising. There are many others which are very effective such as article marketing, advertising in ezines which appeal to your target demographic and putting out press releases. Email marketing is one of the best methods out there, if properly done.

Internet based marketing can significantly reduce your costs. It can also provide more information that lets you run more efficient and better marketing campaigns. In addition, your turnaround time is faster so that you get better information much sooner than you do with traditional venues.

One of the largest challenges with Internet Marketing is operating a successful PPC advertising campaign. Competition is fierce and the costs to advertise at Google are steadily climbing.

In this article we are going to review several of the factors that you should look at when deciding whether or not to outsource your search engine campaign.

Unless you know how to develop these keyword lists, you will most likely put yourself on the highest cost, high traffic, low converting keywords that are used in your industry. To find the right keywords at the right cost is a critical skill in developing a profitable campaign.

3. Tracking Capabilities

Prior to search, companies used newspaper, print, radio and TV ads that were hard to track. Online advertising changed all that, making most actions highly accountable. To be successful today in search you have to implement a system to track all actions; otherwise, how will you know what worked? Let's say you are tracking, what will you do with that data?

4. Optimization Algorithms

Optimization systems / search optimization algorithms are the automated systems that analyze the data you capture, review the actual success on the particular keywords, and make decisions as to which keywords should be bid higher, lower or eliminated completely. This needs to be an automated task to analyze the number of keywords required to maximize the results of your search campaign.

The art of making crafts can be quite rewarding for a person; however, it is also true that it takes a great deal of time and effort to reach a level of greatness for your work. The best way to engage your child when trying on crafts making is to do some yourself. By working with them side-by-side, you are able to bond with them as well. Any parent would love to spend more time with their children, and this is a surefire way to do it.

Once you begin to notice how the skills of your child is improving, then perhaps it is time to show off his or her work at a craft show. There are many such events occurring all around the states all year round. Just make sure you build up your child's crafting credibility first by beginning at non-juried shows.

What do I mean by non-jury? The simple gist is this; in a non-juried craft show, all you have to do is secure a booth and then spend the day showing off your (or in this case, your child's) crafts. In a juried show, on the other hand, you have to submit a profile of your existing works, and a jury will decide if you'll be able to go into the limited slots of booths or not. So, obviously, one should start at a non-juried show first.

Sunday Night Singles Dance at Grand Rapids

Every Sunday the entire single ladies and gentlemen at Grand Rapids, Michigan find time to have fun and socialize, to celebrate great friends and awesome merrymaking. It is fun to be single. Why? It's because single people are free, they have no responsibilities and are not motivated to work hard and sweat up for labor because of a mouth to feed and a family to raise.

As a married woman and a mother of a beautiful 7 month old princess, I used to think that being single is a much better lifestyle. What is then a much better lifestyle? Being single or being married with responsibilities? I used to stay up so late at night and be outdoors until the wee hours of the morning. I used to break on my curfews and stay with my boyfriend for a weekend getaway out of town. Being single is care-free life, I buy the things that I want and shamelessly max out on my credit card.

"The Life" came to an end when Maiah came into my life. Although I earn a lot more compared to what I used to before, all my money goes to buying for her milk and other necessities. Times became more valuable and golden as I frantically clear out and manage my daily tasks just so I could hold her more and play with her. No more long nights partying at techno-sounding bars and no more crazy AmEX sword fighting over late dinners with my girlfriends. Lingerie and Beauty Section of malls no longer excites me as I often find myself trooping to Infant toys in my sweats sans makeup.

I do enjoy married life. Nights are spent to the company of the 2 most important persons in my life. My Don and my Maiah.

Arkansas Olympics

Of course medals are won Gold for the top winner second has silver and third has bronze. The Olympics is an event held where countries all over the world participate to stand up for their countries pride. But these medals represent pride of the countries who participate; they do their best to train and show the whole world about their skill and talents.

This is the main cause of the Arkansas Senior Olympics it is just one of the groups that has been organize to make events particularly games and form into an Olympics activity specially catered to our elders. They give our elderly an outlet to show that despite their age they still have innate pride and them and this can be showcased in forms of games and sports. They have a lot of games that are shared by its participants; examples are 3 on 3 basketball, archery, bowling, golf, tennis and even weight lifting.

For recreational events they have basketball shooting, daisy air gun, the standing long jump, the one mile mixed relay and many more; all to promote camaraderie between the elderly of the State of Arkansas. Also this is to promote the betterment of the health of our old folks. And to give them time to mingle around and build relationships with each other.

They are governed with a good group of board of directors and executive staffs who help promote the vision and mission of the group. Actual achievements are actually made by the participants of the Arkansas Senior Olympics. They have Frances Barger who achieved the 2006 Glenn Cunningham Track Award for showing outstanding performance in the track events in national and state games. This organization showed a lot of support to our elderly and helps them show that despite their age they still have it.

There is not one day, hour or minute that passes that there is some writer in some part of the world doing keyword research from any number of the search engines offered online. They do this to find out more about a specific subject or topic that they will write their next article about. There are many phones available in the market right now. With such a plethora of choices one might have a hard time deciding what phone is right for them. Can You Increase Site Traffic With Keyword Research

Would you be interested in knowing what keywords Google think are the most relevant to your search query? Would you like this list of results to be kept updated all the time? How about being able to access the information at no cost?



And furthermore what about if I mentioned that you could retrieve all the information using nothing but your favorite browser and a standard Google search?

Interested? Read on....

Firstly lets start with the basics and spend a moment discussing relevance, as this term is at the very core of Googles search engine results.

Google wants to provide the person searching with the most accurate and relevant results that it can. Google know that if they do not provide this information, it's probable that searchers will stop using their services completely, and no users means no Adwords revenues which is their main source of income!

For a prime example of a search engine losing market share, spare a thought for AltaVista? In its time it was the most popular search engine, and almost overnight (not quite) lost the crown to Google because they lost the plot with relevance.

I don't think there is such a thing as search engine loyalty (at least not for the non Internet Marketing search engine user). If a better solution arrives, the everyday people will just start using that search engine.

Trust me when I say Google are very conscious of this, and put enormous thought and manpower into making sure that when you search for something, the results returned are very related to your search term.

They have to keep the everyday user happy so that they use Google all the time.

Devious Geeks have, of course found methods to "game" Google in the past, so that their own sites show up instead of what should be the most relevant pages, and such tricks are still used in modern times.

Mostly these tricks are picked up by Google who is getting smarter at finding these types of hacks.

Google seems to get it right most of the time, and certainly more than the other major search engines at this point in time.

Ok so given that Google is currently returning the most relevant results and has the biggest user base when compared to any other search engine, and that its clear that their primary goal is info relevance to their searchers, does it not make sense to use Googles search results and be using this information more when conducting keyword research?

For example lets say your searching for the keyword phrase web traffic

When I typed in search term into google, I got a list of current pages that Google tell us are the most relevance to that search term (along with a host of ads).

But in additional to this information at the bottom of the page they also provide (and here is the key)....

Searches RELATED to: increase site traffic (Their words).

Hmm interesting a list of keywords that Google think are relevant to my search.

Google actually display to you the keywords that they deem to be the most relevant to your search phrase.

If you do some research about this, there is lots of speculation on how google decide on what words are displayed, but no matter what you think I think it's certainly worth investigating further, isn't it?

In my testing I found the keywords it came up with seemed to be keywords heavily searched on.

In the case of web traffic, the search terms I got back were

increase web traffic free web traffic buy web traffic google web traffic web traffic report web traffic generator web traffic monitoring measure web traffic

They all seem pretty related to my original search.

And you can drill down by clicking on a keyword to get relevant keywords to that phrase. For example I could have selected increase web traffic and received a list of related phrases that relate to that term.

This is getting interesting. Before you pass on this method compared to using your favorite keyword tool, It's my suggestion consider the following.

1) The information from these searches are directly from Googles Server, so the data has not been corrupted in any way.

Many keyword research tools do not use information from Google at all (Wordtracker) or combine information from multiple sources. Here we have information direct from the source!

2) The information returned from Google is of course very up to date, unlike a lot of other keyword research data that can be months out of date.

I am not suggesting that you get rid of all other keyword tools in favor of this method, but I do recommend you check it out. With all the latest whiz bang all conquering, overly hyped software tools that seemingly gets released everyday, sometimes it pays to take a step back and go back to just using a very simple method like searching in Google!

In my case, I actually use this method in conjunction with other keyword tools, and get the best out of both worlds. My 2 favorite keyword research tools currently are Nichebot and Market Samurai (google them).

I find the best use of this technique is when searching new niches, or when trying to establish the viability of entering a particular niche.

One last thing to note is that unfortunately not all keywords are supported. Sometimes there are no related searches are provided for a given keyword, but given that it's free I'm happy to overlook that oversight.

And sometimes I have to say the terms returned seem a little weird. But this seems to be in more unusual niches that perhaps Google have not collected enough information for (my speculation).

Get out there and have a look at the related search function in Google. The search terms returned might end up being very useful.

People that that are ready to commit to a sale talk and search differently to people doing research or just surfing the web for entertainment. Talk to the buyers and will get traffic . Once you have a PPC advertising campaign established, the work doesn't end. In order to keep a campaign running smoothly, and make sure you are making the most profit possible, you will need to constantly make adjustments in a number of areas. A common area of focus will be keywords.

Keywords generally fall into two categories: broad and niche.

The general keywords will be the ones which attract a lot of traffic but will generally lead to few sales as they may not actually be interested in your product. These keywords will be a much vaguer version of your desired field.

People using the niche keywords are more interested in your specific field. However, the niche keywords generally attract much less traffic. This decrease in traffic is usually offset by an increase in sales conversion.

This basic understanding of keywords will help you manage you PPC campaign. A lot of the time, a struggling campaign can be caused by poor keyword performance. You need to make sure that a keyword is not only bringing people, but also sales. Without the sales, you may as well be flushing your money down the toilet.

Make sure to keep a close watch on your keywords. By using software provided by the PPC engine, such as Google Adwords, you can track how much traffic each of you keywords is bringing to your site.

Next you will examine the conversion rate of the keyword, how many clicks convert to sales. As mentioned above, general keywords will have a lower ratio, with high traffic and niche keywords a higher ratio, but with less traffic, you need to assess the worth of each keyword. Remember every click costs you money.

Thirdly check the cost per click as opposed to the sales per click; this will be your profits. How much are you bidding on a particular keyword? Is it converting enough sales to justify the bid? If not your PPC campaign is costing your too much money and needs to be adjusted so that you can profit and not lose money.

Another thing to consider is keyword trends. The word which people use to search for a particular topic can often change. When this happens your keywords will become more or less effective. Due to this you may need to alter bids to change positioning of those keywords.

If a keyword is failing to make you money, something needs to be changed. You will need to look at your bid, sales conversions, and traffic generated. As trends change these keywords will continue to need adjusted to keep them successful, or perhaps replace with more successful keywords. This will ensure a suitable ROI.

Three Things You Should Know About Brochure Design

Have you ever thought that a pamphlet can be one of the most powerful of all your marketing materials?

It is a simple piece of paper but the initial impact that your brochure produces is important. If it's shabby and subfusc your candidate is left with the same opinion. This will slow down your business development.

Having a leaflet professionally designed and printed is a key to success in a crowded market. Taking the time to make sure that your leaflet presents all the key data in a way that is easily understood is something that only a professional can do.

If you are just starting out in business you may be tempted to do your leaflet yourself. When I first started in business I did everything myself - not a excellent choice. That is why it took me 12 years before I was even relatively successful. Heed my warning - go professional from day one on your merchandising materials. They are an investment and not an expense. Professionally created materials will deliver you customers and the cash flow to follow - the reason why you are in business.

A pamphlet has to use eye-catching design. It has to be brief in terms of the content and last but not the least, it must be successful in enticing people to make that call of action.

Here are three key design principles to follow when making a leaflet. Use them and you will see your results flow.

1. The cover:

The cover is your salesperson. Brochures are quite inactive tools and you are not often able to 'walk' people through your pamphlet. So you need to arouse people to read further. The cover is the beginning point so must be inviting and sharing the KEY values of WHY someone should read further. It should answer the WIFM question - What's in it for me.

A great design company will show you at least three to four cover designs for your leaflet. Examine these designs to examine which energizes you the most. Ask your friends their impression. Does the cover answer the question WIFM? If it doesn't excite and answer the WIFM question, then skip to another design that works or get it redesigned. Taking the time here to get it right will pay premiums later.

2. The Content:

Once they are past the front then the content has to become the sales representative. So once again, the pressure is on to be great. Do not opt for cheap ineffective content writers or ask the designer to write the content or worst still do it yourself. Instead make sure that a professional copywriter is doing the work. If your design company does not have a copywriter then hire one yourself.

Determine that all the key questions that a likely client will have about your product are answered in a way that gets them to call you for more information. Do not go into 'overkill mode' and flood them with too much information at this point in time. Remember the brochure's job is to energize and get people to call you.

3. The call for action:

If your potential customer has read the leaflet then you have done a good job. All you need to do now is give them a compelling reason to contact you NOW.

Having things like a free call 0800 or 1800 number distinctly shown (in big letters) can make a fundamental difference. Having an email address is a clear bonus. Make sure these two are distinctly placed in large clear type.

Even give your customers a special voucher on the leaflet or reference code can help. But above all, make sure that you add a clear call to action. One way to do this is to readdress the KEY value of your service to your prospect in a way that will get them to take action. Remember value is everything. Individuals only buy something that is of value to THEM.

4. The piece that got forgotten:

I did this on purpose and only said there were three points. Well the last point is the one that can get omitted. It is the 'dummy' one. Have you checked that you have these on your pamphlet:

Phone number | Fax number | Email address | Web address | Country of operation | City / area of operation | Company name | And have you proof read for typo and grammar errors?

Your copy must also contain the Promise key. Make sure that your customer would feel that there is still hope and that you can provide the solution to his problem. Make a promise that you can get rid of his real estate problem and that your expertise and knowledge would save him from his plight.

Critical to the body of your copy is a solid Proof Key. Most of your prospects have been contacted by several investors. In your real estate direct mail, your prospect must have his doubts about you eliminated by the proof key.

Great proof keys are made up of customer testimonials and genuine narratives of prospects like them who were reluctant to sell their homes, but after accepting your offer, discovered that they should have made the decision sooner!

Lastly, you should also include the Price key in your real estate direct marketing copy. Usually, the price is the main concern of every prospect. This time, tell your prospect your offer and how much it would cost him if he doesn't take it.

Go ahead. Read your latest postcard mailing with the Four "P"s in mind. Did you cover them all? If you didn't, there's no time like the fifth "P" - the Present. Why not sit down right now and rewrite this mailing with these key words in mind?

2. Are You Attracting Visitors Who Will Take Action? Many people use the internet to help them to find out more about a product or service before they take action. As they learn their searches become more specific. People considering self storage often start by searching for "storage". Though, I find that junk mail is worth its wait in gold to my business. And I'll tell you why. My name is on a mailing list not once, but sometimes twice and even three times. Each time my name is worded a little differently or perhaps the address is just a bit different.

The reason being, my name on a mailing list is not just once, but sometimes twice or thrice, each time there is a difference in spelling of my name or address is little different.

So I get a chance to receive mailings twice. I find many times that mailing are not identical, I understood this is how a firm "tests" it's copy, each mailing with a different code, which they track to see which mailing was producing better results.

Yes! That was it. And you can use this illustration to your advantage in your next postcard mailing. If it didn't bring in the results that you expect it should, change one element - and one element only. Then mail it again. Better yet, mail the two side by side carefully placing different codes on them. Then you can get a true picture of which pulls better.

Test your theories one by one on why your real estate direct mail was not effective. Keep on testing and changing only a single item to identify what specifically works for your target market.

You may change the headline, the testimonials, it's not of importance what you change, use your instincts and change only one element at a time, then mail. Then you can compare the outcome of two different ones. Has this performed better or worse? If still you are dissatisfied, in next mailing select one more item to change.

Yes, this does take patience on your part. But you'll be surprised how you can perfect a less than stellar performance into an effective direct-marketing postcard campaign for your real estate investing firm. Just give it a try!

Transformers 2 - Bumblebee

The couple Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are back once more with yet another blockbuster, Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen, the second part of Transformers. Back again are the astonishing, remarkable, and exciting roles. Among all the parts in the movie, some of them are a lot sweet and loveable, some are spine-chilling, and endangering, while others are ethical and mighty. These theatrical roles were never forgotten for a little time during the two years that were spent in the making of the sequel.

Now that these incredible characters are back again, our most favourite and sweet car Bumblebee is worth mentioning. Bumblebee is The 1976 Chevrolet Camaro and is the protector, supporter, friend, and ally of our human hero Sam Witwicky. Bumblebee was the first car which Sam bought. Bumblebee later modified himself into the 2009 model because Sam's girlfriend Mikaela Banes called him an old and useless car. He also helped Sam to woo Mikaela.

Bumblebee was always brave yet cautious, and remained with Sam through thick and thin and guided him. But Bumblebee had some problems with his voice and could not speak and rather used radio sound bites to express his feelings. Near the end of the movie he regained his voice somewhat but not completely.

In Transformers 2, Bumblebee still does not get back his vocalisation completely and uses sound bites. Mark Ryan is providing the vocalisation of Bumblebee once again. Ryan is also keeping up with his part, as a backup for robots on set as well.

Sam was really attached to his car and considered it his friend. But now in Transformers 2, Sam is leaving his hometown to go to an East Coast College to study astronomy. He is leaving his friends and family behind. However, along with them he also has to leave his car because at his college freshmen are not allowed to bring cars. Sam is happy because of this as he will be away from the constant surveillance and protection of Bumblebee.

Later in the picture, Bumblebee is also pushed to go from the Witwicky's garage because in an incident he destroys the whole residence, which eventually gets him away from the house.

In Transformers 2, the Super Sport type of the 2010 Camaro was used, as after coming in contact to Allspark in Transformers Bumblebee gets back his energy, and to portray the effect of more strength and vigour an improved model of the car was shown.

The GM motors specifically formulated the recent model of the vehicle to accentuate the recovered power of Bumblebee. The recent trailers of the film project that the vehicle is more robust.

New toys for the yellow Chevrolet are due to be brought to the market on 30 may, 2009 along with the toys of Soundwave. Now, this would be joyful for the young lovers. The first appearance was showed up quite earlier. A video game is also being issued which holds a an important part of Bumblebee.

This film is the most looked forward film of the year. Everyone is looking forward the opening of the film. Bumblebee was portrayed as an innocent and loveable personification and was extremely adored in part 1. Therefore, the audience is waiting to see Bumblebee again.

Powerful Copywriting Makes People Read What You Write

*How To . . ." Always keep in mind the "six Ws": Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How. "How to" seems to work best of all for headlines. People love the promise of getting some new, free knowledge.

*Ask the reader a question. Question type of headline copy writing must be crafted well. It must not simply ask a question. Questions in headlines do the same. Questions remain as to how tame can a tiger be.

When you get to the copywriting body, remember these thigs:

*The six Ws.

*The first sentence must be emotionally appealing with a promise of solutions to come later on in the text.

*Your language throughout must be emotional and simple. Forget long words, jargon, or sounding technical.

*Back up assertions with facts. Always give justifications.

*Ask the reader what to buy.

Sha'b Abu Nuhas is one of those Reefs that, to put it simply, is in the wrong place - as many a ship's captain has discovered to his cost. It is a prime example of a Coral Reef that barely reaches the surface and, from a distance therefore, is not easily seen at all.

Today, of course, there are radar reflectors and small solar-powered lights situated on top of the Reef - and all regularly maintained in the most difficult of circumstances, but one hundred and thirty years ago things were very different.

Unfortunately, at least as far as shipping is concerned, Abu Nuhas lies right at the very edge of the busy shipping lane called the Straits of Gobal. This is the southernmost end of the Gulf of Suez - where the north west Red Sea begins to narrow. Even today, these are hazardous waters - imagine how treacherous they must have been at night without any form of warning light.

The Peninsula & Oriental Passenger Steamer "Carnatic" was built by Samuda Bros of London and technically described as an "iron framed planked passenger steamer of 1776 tons." Her dimensions were 294.7' x 38.1' x 25.4' and in addition to her square-rigged sails, she was powered by a single 4 cylinder compound inverted engine producing a very handsome 2,442 HP - also built in London, by Messrs Humphrys and Tennant.

The Carnatic was launched in December 1862 and, after successful sea trials, was registered by P & O (though that abbreviation was not used in those days) in the March of 1863 before sailing for Calcutta on June 27th.

For most of her working life, P & O employed the vessel between Suez, Bombay and China and latterly she had been the proud command of Captain P. B. Jones - one of the ablest officers of the company.

Is it Inevitable For Major Article Directories To Die?

Once upon a time it was prudent to advise marketers to send their articles to the major article directories. However, this is now and now is different. A lot different. First of all, major article directories such as Ezinearticles can be really particular about the approval process for the content. It is easy to spend too much time trying to get an article approved. The process is even slower for free members. But hey, who is going to pay to send one article to one site in order to get it approved more quickly? Duh?

Then comes the issue of backlinks. When you submit your articles to Ezinearticles (EZA) you get backlinks from only one IP address. So after a while the backlinks are less effective than the first ones were. It is also evident that EZA has different policies in place for different level members relative to hyperlinks in resource boxes. That seems unfair to me and it creates a lot of aggravation for my students just learning to use their service.

When WordPress became the default content management system and publishing platform for new sites, there was also a lot of ways this "new" technology could be used to syndicate articles easily.
